The St. Elmo/Brownstown Lady Eagles softball team fell behind early and could not recover, falling to the North Clay Lady Cardinals 14-6. After scoring one run in the first and second innings each, the Lady Cardinals erupted for 3 runs in the fourth inning, and 3 in the fifth inning to blow the game open, taking an 11-0 lead. SEB would respond in the bottom of the fifth inning with Callie Ledbetter and Heaven Hardesty both reaching base, and Dayana Haslett would reach on an error, scoring Ledbetter to make it an 11-1 game. A sacrifice bunt from Cami Haslett would score Hardesty, and Alivia Claycomb made it an 11-3 game after reaching on an error. Alexis Holliday would single to score Claycomb, and Madi Miller would score on a passed ball to cut the deficit to 11-5. North Clay would respond with a 2-run sixth inning and a 1-run seventh inning to take a 14-5 lead. The Lady Eagles would get a run back on a bases-loaded walk to Ledbetter, but could not close the gap any further, falling 14-6 to North Clay. The loss drops SEB to 0-8 on the season, and 0-3 in NTC play. The Lady Eagles will return to action Monday for another NTC matchup against Altamont.
