Altamont pitcher Grace Lemke and T-Town pitcher Alyssa Tipton combined for 52 strikeouts in a 10 inning pitcher’s duel that the Lady Indians fell just short in, 2-0, on Thursday at home. Each team collected just two hits in the game amongst the plethora of strikeouts. Altamont got their first baserunner aboard in the bottom of the sixth inning on a drawn walk by Avery Fleeharty, but a strikeout ended the inning to strand the runner on base. Altamont got their first hit of the game as Cecilia Pearcy singled to right field to open up the bottom of the eighth inning and she advanced to third on a sacrifice by Madison Tonn. Again, a strikeout ended the scoring threat and the inning. T-Town was able to break up the scoreless game in the top of the 10th inning on a single to left field and a pair of walks that loaded the bases before another single, this one to center field, scored two runs to put the Wooden Shoes on top 2-0. Altamont was able to stop the T-Town scoring after just those two runs and turn the inning to the bottom half. With two outs in the bottom of the tenth, Cecilia Pearcy broke through again with a single to right field, but the 52nd strikeout in the game ended the inning and the game. After the extra inning affair, Altamont Coach Megan Burrus said the loss was ten innings of good softball.
