South Central was held to just one run on three hits as the Cougars fell to Fairfield, 6 to 1, at home on Tuesday. Fairfield scored a run in the first inning to go up 1-0 before neither team scored over the next four and a half innings. The Mules added on to their lead in the top of the sixth inning with three runs to go up 4-0 over the Cougars. South Central broke through and got a run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth when Hudson Moore scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Maddox Robb as the Cougars cut Fairfield’s lead to 4-1. The Mules tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead out to 6-1 which would hold as the final score after South Central went down scoreless in the bottom of the seventh. South Central is now 1-1 on the season and will be back in action today at Cisne.
