South Central softball put on a clinic on Friday, grabbing a 24-0 shutout win over Okaw Valley on the road behind a one-hit effort on the mound and a 4-for-4, 5 RBI showing at the plate from Kinlee Thompson. The Lady Cougars jumped all over the Timberwolves early, putting up 14 runs in the top of the first inning with nine hits in the inning including a home run from freshman Maddie Peddicord. With their 14-0 lead intact going to the second, South Central put up another seven runs behind seven hits as their already large lead was pushed out to 21-0. The Cougars continued to hold Okaw Valley scoreless through the third inning and then dropped three more runs on the top of the fourth inning on six hits including a home run from Thompson to go out to a 24-0 lead. Another scoreless inning for the Timberwolves locked in the 24-0 win for South Central. Along with Thompson’s stellar day, Kyra Swift and Bri Buchanan each collected 3 hits in the game and Peddicord and Kinley Swift each finished with 4 RBI. The Lady Cougars are 2-0 to start the season and return home for a Monday showdown with Mulberry Grove.
