I70Sports Area Baseball and Softball Teams Set to Open 2025 Seasons Today


Four area baseball teams and one area softball team are set to open their seasons today as the Spring 2025 sports season kicks into full gear.

In baseball, Vandalia opens up at home as they host Father McGivney. The Vandals were 14-19 last Spring, falling in the first round of Regionals. Father McGivney went 34-5 last Spring making it to the Super-Sectionals. Game time today is set for 4:30pm at Vandalia Mutual Field.

Brownstown-St. Elmo baseball will open up at home, hosting Cumberland. BSE was 8-14-1 last Spring and went 3-15 during the fall season while Cumberland went 12-15 last Spring. Game time today is set for 4:30pm at Bob Page Field in Brownstown.

Our first matchup of two I70Sports teams comes today as South Central travels to CHBC for the teams’ season openers. CHBC is coming off a 7-9 fall season after going 4-15 last Spring. South Central is coming off of a 15-6 fall after going 18-14-1 last Spring. Game time set for 4:30pm at Beecher City High School and the game will be our first baseball broadcast of the season with action live on 107.1 FM WKRV and streaming at vandaliaradio.com and on the VandaliaRadio app.

In softball, Ramsey will be the first I70Sports team to get their season underway and will do so at home as they host Gillespie. The Lady Rams went 4-18 last Spring. Game time is set for 4:30pm today at Ramsey High School.
