Vandalia junior Brynn Swyers brought home a sixth place finish from the IWCOA Fresh/Soph and Girls State Tournament this weekend while three boys would go into the Consolation bracket’s second and third rounds before being eliminated from the tournament. Swyers bounced back from a loss in the 170lb Championship Round 3 to get herself into the 5th place match and ultimately taking 6th place. On the boys side, Zayne Zinkgraf at 144lbs and Zayden Doehring at 165lbs each got a Championship first round win before going to the Consolation bracket and suffering two consecutive losses to both be eliminated from the tournament. At 175lbs, Noah Langston suffered a first round loss before working his way to Consolation Round 3 with a Sudden Victory in Round 2. Langston would fall though in the Third Consolation Round though to end his tournament run.

Lost to Iyjah Grant of Champaign Central by Fall in 0:55 to be sent into the Consolation Bracket. Beat Makayla Padilla of Jacksonville in the Consolation Quarterfinals by Decision, 4-3. Lost to Caliyah Campbell of Oak Park-River Forest to be sent into the 5th place match. Lost to Lauryn Trotter of Yorkville by Fall in 1:18 to finish in 6th Place with an overall tournament record of 3-3.
Zayne Zinkgraf, F/S 144lbs: Beat Dakari Brown of Mattoon by Fall in 3:33 in Championship Round 1. Lost to Khalid Eid of St. Laurence by Decision, 6-3, in Championship Round 2. Lost to John Gough of Schaumburg by Injury Default in Consolation Round 2.
Zayden Doehring, F/S 165lbs: Beat Tristian Stamp of Heyworth by Fall in 3:53 in Championship Round 1. Lost to Kayden Roach of Bourbonnais by Major Decision, 13-4, in Championship Round 2. Lost to Adan Osoria of Glenbard West by Decision, 4-2, in Consolation Round 2.
Noah Langston, F/S 175lbs: Lost to Benjamon Miller of Hinsdale South by Major Decision, 16-6, in Championship Round 1. Beat Cale Johnson of Galesburg by Fall in 1:25 in Preliminary Round 2. Beat Charlie Morzuch of Lincolnway West by Sudden Decision, 9-6, in Consolation Round 2. Lost to Marco Rafael of Glenbard North by Fall in 4:23 in Consolation Round 3.
