Several Vandals Wrestlers Qualify for IWCOA Girls State and Fresh/Soph State

Four Vandalia wrestlers are heading to the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association’s (IWCOA) Girls State and Fresh/Soph State Tournaments following their qualifying finishes at the IWCOA 2025 S Sectional at Granite City this past weekend. On the Girls side of the Sectional, junior Brynn Swyers went 4-0 in the tournament to win the Championship of the 170lb weight class. For the Fresh/Soph Boys, freshman Zayne Zinkgraf went 4-1 and finished in 3^rd place at 144lbs. Sophomore Zayden Doehring went 3-1 in the tournament, falling in the 165lb Championship match and sophomore Noah Langston went 4-1 to finish in 3^rd place at 175lbs. All four of those wrestlers will advance on to the IWCOA State Tournament. Also competing at Sectionals were freshman Matthew McDowell who went 0-2 in the tournament art 138lbs and freshman Braxton Dunn-Swyers who went 0-2 at 190lbs.
