Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City outscored St. Elmo-Brownstown in the second half as the Bobcats beat the Eagles 49-42 in the final Egyptian Illini Conference game for both teams. SEB took the lead early in the game, going up 14-8, at the end of the first quarter. Momentum would begin to bend the Bobcats way in the second quarter though as they outscored the Eagles 16-11 in the quarter and cut SEB’s lead to a single point, 25-24, at halftime. CHBC just outscored SEB, 11-9, in the third quarter as they flipped things and took the one point lead, 35-34, to end the quarter. A 14-9 run through the fourth quarter by the Bobcats allowed CHBC to pull away for the 49-42 win. CHBC improves to 8-19 on the season and to 3-2 in the EIC. They will open postseason play on Monday at Arcola. SEB drops to 13-16 on the season and 3-2 in the EIC. They will play their final regular season game and final NTC game today at Windsor/Stew-Stras.
