The Altamont Indians gave St. Anthony, the current #3 1A team in the state, a run for their money for three quarters, but came up short as they couldn’t hold off a fourth quarter run by the Bulldogs in a 45 to 38 loss in National Trail Conference action on Tuesday night. Prior to the game, Altamont honored seniors Alex Walker, Ben Roedl and Tyler Ruffner for Senior Night. Getting into the game, the first quarter was a tight battle as Kade Milleville with eight points and Cooper McManaway with four points got the Indians going and they trailed by a slim margin, 13-12, at the end of the quarter. Milleville and McManaway stayed hot in the second quarter with six points each to outscore St. Anthony 12-7 in the quarter as Altamont took a 24-20 halftime lead. The Bulldogs outscored the Indians in the third quarter, 10-8, but Altamont maintained a two point lead, 32-30, at the end of the quarter. St. Anthony would lock down the Indians, allowing them just six points in the fourth quarter, five of them coming from Ben Roedl, as Altamont was outscored 15-6 and the Indians suffered the 45-38 loss. Altamont drops to 16-12 overall on the season and to 5-2 in conference play. They have two more games this week as they will go on the road on Thursday for their last NTC game against Windsor/Stew-Stras before wrapping up the regular season at home on Friday night against Marshall.
