South Central battled all game long, but Windsor/Stew-Stras pulled away in the fourth quarter as the Lady Cougars suffered the 53 to 40 loss in National Trail Conference action on Thursday night. South Central and the Hatchets would nearly match each other point for point in the first quarter as each team would hit three shots from the field, but WSS had the one point scoring advantage in the quarter as they hit four free throws to South Central’s three free throws as the Cougars trailed 10-9 at the end of the first. Baylee Brown would follow up her four points in the first quarter with seven second quarter points while Perci Reid scored four points in the quarter but South Central would be outscored 13-11 in the quarter to trail 23-20 at halftime. The Cougars would begin to utilize their perimeter game in the third quarter as Kaitlyn Swift hit a pair of threes and Brown hit for a pair herself but South Central would be just outscored 15-14 in the quarter to trail 38-34 heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Cougars were held to just six points in the fourth while WSS would drop 15 to pull away at the end of the game to hand South Central the 53-40 loss. South Central is now 1-18 on the season and 0-4 in the NTC. They will return to action on Monday morning when they begin play in the NTC Tournament, taking on Dieterich at 10:00am at Beecher City High School.
