Despite forcing 21 turnovers, the Vandalia Vandals could not overcome a tough second quarter, as they fall to the Hamilton County Foxes 63-58 on Wednesday. The Vandals offense got off to a hot start leading 17-12 after the first quarter, highlighted by 9 points from Qwentyn Stombaugh. Turnovers would hurt the Vandals in the second quarter, and Hamilton County took advantage of them, as they would go on a 16-7 run to take a 28-24 lead at halftime. The Foxes would see their lead grow, as they would outscore Vandalia 16-13 to take a 44-37 lead going into the fourth quarter. Vandalia on two separate occasions would find themselves down by 9 points, one of them being with less than 3 minutes left in the game, but would not go away quietly, as they would rally to cut it to one with less than a minute left. After a Vandals foul with 16 seconds left, Hamilton County would make two free throws to go up by 3. The Vandals would not get a shot off as the Foxes would force a turnover and convert on two more free throws, to come away with a 63-58 victory. With the loss, the Vandals fall to 8-11 on the season. They will have another road test on Saturday when they take on Flora.
