CHBC girls basketball grabbed an early lead, but turnovers doomed the Bobcats as Meridian used a big second quarter to pull away and hand CHBC a 59 to 29 loss at home on Tuesday night. The Hawks scored first to open the game on a three pointer, but an 11-5 run would give CHBC an 11-8 lead to end the first quarter. Turnovers and missed scoring opportunities would stop the Bobcats momentum in the second and Meridian would capitalize and go on a 25-2 run to pull ahead of CHBC, 33-16, at halftime. Despite hitting a couple big shots to open the third quarter, the Bobcats were outscored 16-9 in the period and 26-13 in the second half overall as Meridian stretched out their lead and CHBC was dealt the 59-29 loss. CHBC is now 8-9 on the season and will return to National Trail Conference action on Thursday when they travel to Dieterich.
