The Ramsey Rams and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats fall in their first games of the 64th Annual St. Elmo Holiday Tournament.
In the first game of the evening, the top-seeded Hillsboro Hilltoppers got off to a hot start over the #8-seeded Ramsey Rams taking a 29-2 lead after the first quarter and extended that lead to 61-14 at halftime. The Hilltoppers would coast in the second half, outscoring the Rams 25-13 to come away with the 86-27 win.
In the second game of the evening, the #5-seeded CHBC Bobcats and #4-seeded Cumberland Pirates traded baskets, with Cumberland leading 20-15 after the first quarter. The Pirates would outscore the Bobcats 16-10 to take a 36-25 lead at halftime. Cumberland would go on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter, but CHBC would attempt a comeback cutting the deficit to 13 at one point, but could not get any closer going into the fourth quarter down 54-34. Cumberland would again outscore CHBC 13-12 to come away with the 67-46 win. The losses will drop Ramsey to 1-10 on the season, and CHBC to 2-6 on the season. The Rams and Bobcats will play each other in the Consolation Semifinals on Thursday at 6:15 P.M.
