The St. Elmo-Brownstown High School cheerleading squad is fully underway with their competitive season and has qualified to compete in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association’s State Championships, receiving qualifying marks to compete in two divisions. The team competed in the Small Junior Varsity Game Day division at the Highland Invitational on Saturday, December 9 where they grabbed a first place finish in the division as well as a state qualifying score. The Eagles then added another first place finish in the Small Junior Varsity Game Day division at the Mt. Vernon Invitational this past Saturday. The Eagles then added on to their hardware total as they earned themselves a second place finish in the Small Junior Varsity Routine division and earned a state qualifying score in that division as well. Topping off their big day Saturday, SEB returned home that evening and also earned a first place finish in the cheerleading competition portion for the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament. The Eagles now have just a few weeks to fine tune their game day and routine performances before they compete at the ICCA State Championships that will be held in Springfield on Saturday, January 6 and Sunday, January 7.
