Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City boys used a third quarter run to pull away from Neoga and get a 60-50 win in their National Trail Conference opener on Tuesday. The Bobcats got out to an early lead, pulling ahead 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. Neoga would outscore CHBC 17-13 in the second quarter but the Bobcats held a slim 31-30 lead at halftime. The third quarter would be the difference maker in the game, as CHBC went on a 16-7 run to pull ahead 47-37 heading into the final quarter where the Bobcats and Indians would play even as CHBC held on to their double digit lead to finish the 60-50 win. CHBC moves to 3-2 on the season and starts NTC play at 1-0. They will open up Egyptian Illini Conference play on Friday when they host Ramsey in a rematch of the 5th place game of the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament Fifth Place game this past Saturday in which the Bobcats got a 61-50 win over the Rams.
