Week 8-Comets (6-1) at Gillespie (3-4), 7 pm
For the Greenville Comets, they officially punched their ticket last week for the playoffs with a 27 to 0 win over Staunton at Don Stout Field. The Comets continued to be strong on the ground as Jack Woods ran for 108 yards and 3 TDs in the game. Super Athlete Isaac Green had 2 catches for 63 yards on the night. The Comets now look to improve their playoff position as they finish up their regular season first at 3-4 Gillespie and then hosting the Vandals next Friday night. Greenville has continued to be solid all year, outscoring their opponents by exactly 100 yards (214 points scored, 114 points allowed) thru 7 games.
Gillespie is 3-4 and coming off a loss that really hurts their playoff hopes as they fell to 3-4 Roxana, 30 to 16. Going into the 4th quarter, Gillespie only trailed the Shells 10 to 9, but were outscored 20 to 7 in the 4th quarter. Gillespie would have to win out to become playoff eligible and they will be a tough task as they have the Comets in Week 8 and then 2-5 Staunton in Week 9.
