Along with Coach Clay’s Hall of Fame induction, Two Vandals Wrestlers were honored at Sunday’s IWCOA Banquet

We hear more today from Jason Clay after he was inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame at their 53rd annual banquet on Sunday evening in Alsip.  Coach Clay says looking at the list of previous inductees–including former Vandals Coach Glen Exton and Vandalia Wrestling Legend Bob Culbertson–is pretty humbling to join them.

Meanwhile, along with Coach Clay Vandals Wrestling Tyson Waughtel and Sophie Bowers were also honored during the annual banquet.

In the 2025 IWCOA Special Awards, Coach Clay was a Gold Level Award Winner for getting to 500 dual team wins, Tyson Waughtel was a Silver Level Award winner for being a 3 time state champ and 4 time medal winner and Sophie Bowers was a Bronze Level Award winner for being a two time state champion.  Tyson Waughtel was also named the Class 1A Outstanding Wrestler of the Year.
