Vandalia baseball had trouble stopping Pana early and suffered an 11 to 2 non-conference loss to the Panthers on the road on Monday. Pana grabbed a 4-0 lead in the first inning before the Vandals cut into the lead in the second inning when Kohnor Depew hit a ground ball and reached base on an error which allowed Owen Halford to score and cut the Pana led to 4-1. The Panthers tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 6-1. Vandalia responded with another run in the top of the third on a RBI double by Brock Willenborg that scored Jack Lewis and the Vandals cut the Pana lead to 6-2. The Panthers then went on to score five more unanswered runs and hand the Vandals an 11-2 loss. Vandalia drops to 6-11 on the season and they will turn around and host Pana today in what will be their South Central Conference matchup for the season.
