Late Inning Offense Gets Altamont Win at Nokomis


Altamont’s offense woke up in the sixth inning and the Indians were able to grab a 4 to 1 win at Nokomis to cap off a pitcher’s duel on Monday. The game saw three and half scoreless innings to start the game as the Indians had a runner get on base on a hit by pitch and two more on drawn walks while Nokomis a single and a walk in that time. Nokomis was the first to score with four singles in the bottom of the fourth inning moving runners around to bring a run in for a 1-0 lead for Nokomis. The Indians started moving things offensively in the top of the sixth inning and Altamont scored their first runs and took the lead in the game up at 2-1 with a RBI single by Cooper McManaway bringing in Will Reardon and Brayden Elam to score. Nokomis loaded up the bases in the bottom half of the inning by Carson Milleville got the Nokomis batter to ground into a double play to get out of the jam and keep Altamont on top. With the bases loaded in the top of the 7th inning, McManaway hit a line drive that led to a Nokomis error and allowed Owen Reardon and Kade Milleville to score to push the lead to 4-1. The Indians allowed one Nokomis runner on in the bottom of the seventh, but a fly out closed out the 4-1 win for Altamont. The Indians are now 14-3 on the season and will be on the road again on Tuesday at Olney.
