St. Elmo-Brownstown just edged CHBC in the hit column, but couldn’t push enough runs across the plate as the Bobcats grabbed the 9-4 double conference win on Thursday night. CHBC opened the scoring with a run in the first inning on a Brylie Prater RBI groundout for a 1-0 Bobcat lead. With two outs and two on, SEB tied the game at 1-1 on a CHBC error that allowed Madi Miller to reach base. CHBC pulled ahead, 2-1, with another run in the top of the second. And SEB grabbed their first lead of the game in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to go up 3-2. The back and forth battle continued as the Bobcats pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the third inning as the lead changed again to a 4-3 CHBC lead which became a 6-3 lead after a pair of fourth inning runs. The Bobcats again extended their lead in the top of the sixth inning as two runs made it an 8-3 CHBC lead. SEB would score their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Bobcat lead to 8-4, but CHBC tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh to close out the 9-4 win. CHBC improves to on the season and to 2-4 in the NTC and 1-1 in the EIC. They will play Tuesday at Dieterich for another National Trail Conference matchup. SEB drops to 1-13 on the season, to 0-6 in the NTC and 0-3 in the EIC. They will play Monday at Windsor/Stew-Stras for another NTC matchup.
