Senior Ian Whitehead ran a 1.4 second PR in the 400m Dash and broke the 12-year old school record in the event as the Vandalia boys track team took fourth place at the Cumberland Pirate Invite on Tuesday. Whitehead’s first place time of 51.04 seconds beat the previous school record of 51.36 that had been held by Ryan Ambuehl since 2013. As a team, the Vandals came in fourth place with 92 points behind first place Newton (111.83 points), Cumberland (99.33 points) and Altamont (92.5 points). The Vandals had 14 top 5 finishes in the meet. Vandalia freshman and sophomore team members will be in action today in the South Central Conference Fresh/Soph Meet at home while the full team will be in action at the Comet Relays in Greenville on Friday.
