Vandals Rally in Fourth in SCC Win over North Mac


The Vandalia Vandals scored all four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, earning their first SCC win 4-3 over the North Mac Panthers. North Mac scored one run in the third, and two in the fourth to take an early 3-0 lead. The Vandals would respond in the bottom of the fourth with back-to-back singles from Qwentyn Stombaugh and Andrew Casey, before a Chase Cearlock walk would load the bases. Adam Buscher would walk to bring home the first run for the Vandals, before two straight hit by pitches to Brock Willenborg and Drew Jones would tie the game at 3, before a balk would allow Willenborg to score, giving Vandalia the 4-3 lead. North Mac would have the go ahead run in the top of the seventh inning, but Casey and Stombaugh would retire the next two batters to give them the 4-3 win. The Vandals improve to 6-8 on the season and 1-3 in SCC play. The Vandals will be on the road Friday to take on Litchfield.
