South Central Uses 10-Run Third Inning to Rout CHBC


South Central softball put up 10 runs in the third inning as they went on to get a 16 to 2 win over CHBC at Beecher City on Tuesday. The Lady Cougars put up a pair of runs in the first inning on a CHBC error for a 2-0 lead and pushed that lead to 4-0 on a two RBI single from Kyra Swift in the second inning. Four consecutive hits by the Cougars to start the third inning including a triple by Kinlee Thompson and a two-run home run by Bri Buchanan put South Central up 8-0. A double, an error, a triple from Kyra Swift and a sacrifice fly from Maddie Peddicord pushed the lead to 11-0 before the first out of the inning. A hit by pitch, three more singles and a pop fly error had the Lady Cougars up 14-0 to end the half inning. CHBC scored their first run in the bottom of the third inning, scoring on a wild pitch to make it 14-1. South Central scored another run in the top of the fourth on a RBI double from Maddie Peddicord to edge their lead to 15-1. A South Central error in the bottom of the fourth allowed the Bobcats to score their second and final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth before South Central added a final run in the top of the fifth on a RBI single from Kyra Swift and closed out the 16-2 win for the Lady Cougars. South Central is 10-7 on the season and will play today at Ramsey. CHBC is 1-8 on the season and will play Thursday at St. Elmo-Brownstown.
