The South Central Cougars smacked three home runs, as they knocked off the Flora Wolves 13-4 in the first game of their annual Wooden Bat Classic on Friday afternoon. The Cougars got on the board in the top of the first inning, when Trevan Sidwell hit an RBI single to score Callaway Smith. Two batters later, Maddox Robb would reach on an error scoring Colton Smith to give South Central a 2-0 lead. South Central would add two more runs on the board on a pair of RBI singles from Colton Smith and Sidwell to give them a 4-0 lead. Flora would get on the board with an RBI double in the top of the third inning, but Colton Smith would break the game open with a grand slam in the bottom half of the third inning, making it an 8-1 game. A Wolves three run homerun would cut the deficit in half 8-4. South Central would add on some insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings on a solo shot from Callaway Smith, a three run homer from Evan Hoover, Colton Smith would drive in Luke Shumate on an E9, to give them the 13-4 win. South Central improves to 7-6 on the season. They will wrap up their Wooden Bat Classic on Saturday taking on North Clay and Woodlawn.
