Keegan Schultz allowed just one hit while striking out ten batters and Kade Milleville and Cooper McManaway combined for four of the Indians’ seven hits as Altamont shut out Cumberland, 8 to 0, at home on Wednesday. The Indians got off to a fast start when Milleville doubled to lead off and then scored after an error on the Pirates catcher on a groundout by Brayden Elam put Altamont up 1-0. Still in the first inning with two runners on and two outs, McManaway doubled to bring in two more runs and Altamont went up 3-0 at the end of the first inning. The two teams combined for four and a half scoreless innings before the Indians got things moving again. Altamont batted through the order and alternated walks and hits as they pushed five more runs across the plate and push their lead up to 8-0. The Pirates put a runner on base with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, but Schultz induced a groundout for the game’s final out to close out the 8-0 win for Altamont. The Indians are now 10-2 on the season as the win marked the fifth straight win for Altamont and they will look to keep their winning ways going on Thursday when they play a night game at 7:00pm at Greenville University against Delavan.
