Altamont junior Kade Milleville struck out 16 of the 24 batters he faced and Brayden Elam and Milleville each had two hit days at the plate and Dyson Wagner drove in three runs as the Indians shut out Neoga, 8 to 0, on the road on Monday. The first five innings were a scoreless battle before the Indians bust the game open in the top of the sixth inning. Altamont used small ball to rack up five singles, a double, a fielder’s choice and a trio of drawn walks to put up seven runs in the inning and take a 7-0 lead. Altamont tacked on one more run in the top of the seventh inning on a fielder’s choice to push their lead to 8-0 and then held Neoga to one baserunner on one hit in the bottom half of the inning as they finished off the 8-0 win. Altamont improves to 9-2 on the season and will play the second game of their four games scheduled in four days this week as they will be at home today to take on Ramsey.
