South Central softball was held to just two hits as they were shut out 1 to 0 by Windsor/Stew-Stras in a pitcher’s duel in their National Trail Conference opener on Monday. The Hatchets lone run came in the top of the fifth inning on a two out single to right field with two runners on base. That 1-0 lead held through the remaining two and a half innings as South Central was handed the loss. South Central’s only two hits of the game came on a leadoff single by Abi Shuler in the bottom of the fourth inning and a leadoff single by Maddie Peddicord in the bottom of the seventh inning. Peddicord was on the mound for the Lady Cougars in the game and scattered six hits across seven innings of work while giving up just one run and one walk while striking out eight of the 28 batters she faced. South Central is now 3-4 on the season and jumps right back into conference action, playing their second of three conference games in a row this week as they are at Altamont today.
