Vandalia Girls Take Second, Boys Track Dominates for First and Depew Breaks 200m Record

Vandalia boys track and field put on a dominant showing to take first as a team winning by nearly 50 points while the girls track team took second in a quad meet at Pana with North Mac and Nokomis also competing on Tuesday. On the boys side, junior Kohnor made some history during the meet as he broke the school record in the 200m Dash with a hand time of 22.2 seconds which converts to 22.44 and beats the previous school record of 23.24 seconds that was held by Blake Barth and set in the 2019 season. The Vandalia boys took first place in twelve of the day’s 18 events. On the girls side, senior Sophie Bowers collected two first place finishes and in a battle of two athletes with top 5 marks in the current girls outdoor Shot Put rankings, Hannah Brown took first place, beating conference rival Reagan McGlauchlen of Pana by nearly two feet. Next up for the Vandalia boys and girls will be the Larry Stewart Invitational at Greenville.
