SEB Comes Up Just Short In Combined 29-Run Game


St. Elmo-Brownstown softball and Odin-Patoka-Sandoval combined for 29 runs on Tuesday the Lady Eagles came up just short in a 15 to 14 loss on the road. SEB grabbed the lead in the first inning with a run to make it 1-0 but OPS countered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning to pull ahead of SEB, 2-1. The Lady Eagles tied it up 2-2 in the second, but again OPS responded, this time putting up 9 runs as SEB trailed 11-2 at the end of the inning. With OPS up 12-2 to start the fifth inning, the Lady Eagles pushed five runs across the plate to cut the OPS lead down to 12-6. OPS edged their lead out to 13-6 in the bottom of the fifth before SEB had their biggest inning of the game, scoring seven runs and pulling even with OPS, 13-13. Two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning put OPS back on top 15-13, but SEB could only counter with one run in the top of the seventh as they fell just short, 15-14. SEB is now 0-4 on the season and will be back at home on Thursday to face North Clay.
