The South Central Cougars trailed 4-0 early on, but were able to rally for a walk-off win over the Altamont Indians, 7 to 6, in 10 innings Monday Night. The Indians wasted no time getting on the board as Brayden Elam and Kade Milleville reached on a single and a walk. Keegan Schultz would then homer to right field to give Altamont a 3-0 lead. That score would remain until the top of the fourth inning, when Elam would score on an RBI single from Schultz to give the Indians a 4-0 lead. The Cougars would respond in the bottom of the fifth inning when Colton Smith and Trevan Sidwell would reach base for Maddox Robb who would double to cut the deficit to 4-2. Zane Montes would then single to score Robb, making it a 4-3 game. The Indians would get a run back in the sixth inning off a homer from Elam, and Schultz would drive in his fifth run of the night on a double, making the score 6-3. South Central would not go away quietly, as Sidwell would single to score Luke Schumate, and Callaway Smith to make the score 6-5. After a scoreless top half of the seventh, the Cougars would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from Chase Guerrattaz to send the game to extra innings. After two and a half scoreless innings of play, South Central would get an RBI single from Montes to give the Cougars the 7-6 win. South Central improves to 3-2 on the season. They will have a quick turnaround on Tuesday to take on Mulberry Grove. Altamont falls to 4-2 on the season. They will return to action on Thursday to take on St. Anthony.
