Altamont softball came up just short in tough 1-0 battle at Sullivan on Monday night. Originally scheduled to be at home, the lady Indians had to go on the road instead due to wet field conditions. Each team would hold the other to two hits in the game with Altamont’s coming on a fly ball single by Sophia Pearcy in the fifth inning and a single by Avery Fleeharty in the sixth inning, but neither would lead to a run. After five and a half scoreless innings, Sullivan scored their first run and the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning after the leadoff batter reached base on an Altamont error and the following batter singled to center field to bring in the run. The Indians would get three quick outs on a pair of strikeouts and a groundout to end the inning. Altamont was sat down one, two, three in the top of the seventh inning to take the 1-0 loss. The Lady Indians are 5-1 on the season and get right back at it today as they go on the road again to face Cumberland.
