Vandalia baseball was held to just three hits from the top of the order as they suffered an 11-1 loss at Greenville on Thursday night. After the game was pushed back to a 7:00pm start at Greenville University, the Vandals got off to a slow start, falling behind 5-0 after the Comets put up two runs in the first inning and added on three more in the second. Coming up in the top of the third inning, Drew Jones drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. With one out, Jack Lewis doubled to center field to bring pinch runner Kobe Lux in to score as the Vandals cut the Greenville lead down to 5-1. That would be it for Vandalia’s scoring though as Greenville would bring in four runs in the fourth inning to push their lead out to 9-1. Two more Comet runs in the bottom of the fifth inning put Greenville at the run rule mark to hand the Vandals the 11-1 loss. Vandalia drops to .500 on the young season, now standing at 2-2. They will be back in action on Saturday when they play at Breese Mater Dei.
