Altamont Softball Wins Fifth Straight to Start the Season

The Altamont Lady Indians got their third shutout win on the young season as they beat Central A & M 2 to 0 in a pitcher’s duel on the road on Wednesday. The Lady Indians recorded seven hits in the game, but six of those came from Laila Hankins and Grace Lemke with three hits each and Avery Fleeharty with one as they were the only players to solve the A & M pitching. In return, Altamont pitcher Grace Lemke gave up just one hit in the game on the mound. Both of the Lady Indians runs came in the fifth innings on a RBI double from Lemke and a RBI single from Hankins that gave Altamont the only runs of the game for the 2-0 win. Hankins and Lemke each finished the game 3 for 4 with an RBI while Fleeharty was 1 for 3 with a run scored. On the mound, Lemke went all seven innings with one hit allowed, five walks given up and 19 strikeouts recorded. The Lady Indians move to 5-0 to start the season and will be in action again today at Greenville.
