Mulberry Grove shuts out South Central Behind Johnson's No-Hitter


The Mulberry Grove Lady Aces got their first win of the season, defeating the South Central Lady Cougars 1-0 in a nail-biting pitcher’s duel. The Lady Aces were able to come away, behind senior pitcher Lily Johnson’s no-hitter. After two scoreless innings, the Lady Aces got on the board, after an RBI single from Taylor Stone to give Mulberry the lead. South Central would put two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the sixth inning, after a pair of errors, but Johnson would get out of the inning with a strikeout and Jenni Mezo would pick the runner off at third to get out of the inning. The Lady Cougars would go down in order in the bottom of the seventh, securing the Lady Aces with the 1-0 victory. Mulberry Grove improves to 1-1 on the season. They will return on the road Friday to take on Patoka/Odin/Sandoval. The Lady Cougars fall to 2-1 on the season. They will go on the road Tuesday to take on Greenville.
