Lemke's Second Straight No-Hitter Leads Altamont to Win in Opener at Future Champions Jamboree

Altamont softball senior pitcher Grace Lemke pitched her second straight no-hitter to start the season as the Lady Indians beat Spring Valley Hall, 11-1, in their opening game of the Future Champions Jamboree in Jacksonville on Friday night. A five-run first inning kicked off the game for Altamont as Kennedi Schultz hit a two-run home run and the Lady Indians led 5-0. An RBI single by Madison Tonn in the second edged the Altamont lead out to 6-0 before the Lady Indians put up another five runs in the third inning, including three girls coming in on a 3-run home run by Lemke for an 11-0 lead. Lemke’s lone blemish on the mound in the game came in the top of the fourth inning as the Red Devils drew a leadoff walk and after a steal of second base and an advancement on a wild pitch, the runner came in to score on a groundout. That would be the only run the Lady Indians gave up as they would hold the ten-run lead and close out the win in four and a half innings. Altamont is 2-0 to start the season now and will play two more games in the Jamboree today, facing Milledgeville at 12:00pm and then taking on Sullivan at 4:00pm.
