The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats gave up 6 runs in the top of the fourth inning, and could not keep up, falling to the Newton Eagles 14-6 on Friday. Newton would score 3 runs in the first inning, but the Bobcats would quickly answer getting a run back on an RBI single from Blake Mueller. CHBC would tie it at 3 in the second inning, after back-to-back singles from Ben Askins and Kyle Lamb, and a sacrifice bunt would put them into scoring position for AJ Radloff, who would drive them in on a single. The Eagles would get a run back in the third inning, before erupting for 6 runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-3 lead. An RBI double from Wyatt Rueff would cut the lead to 10-4, but Newton would add 4 insurance runs in the seventh. CHBC would add on two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it was too late as the Bobcats would fall 14-6. CHBC falls to 0-2 on the season. They will return to play Monday to take on Pana.
