Vandalia baseball was held scoreless as they fell to Father McGivney 12 to 0 in their season and home opener on Monday. The Vandals found themselves down early as the Griffins scored 3 runs in the first inning for a 3-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning for both teams, Father McGivney pulled away a bit more each inning as they put up three more runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings for a 12-0 lead. The Vandals continued to be held scoreless and could not capitalize on any of their five hits in the game as the Griffins closed out the short game win in five innings over the Vandals. Vandalia is now 0-1 to start the season and will play their first road game today when they travel to Toledo to take on Cumberland at 4:30pm.
