The South Central Cougars Scored at least one run in all 5 innings, including 7 in the second inning, to come away with a 15-1 win over the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats. The Cougars got on the board first, after two of the first three hitters reached base, Trevan Sidwell would single to score Hudson Moore giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Maddox Robb would reach on an error allowing Callaway Smith to score making the lead 2-0. A bases-loaded hit by pitch to Evan Hoover would make it a 3-0 lead for South Central going into the bottom of the first. The Bobcats would respond with a run of their own in the first inning, after Connor Nowitzke would reach on a one-out double, and would later score on a double steal to cut the deficit to 3-1. The Cougars would add on in the second inning after back-to-back hits from Luke Shumate, and Moore, Smith would smack a three-run homer over the left field fence to make it a 6-1 game. South Central would continue to add on with a single from Zane Montes to score Colton Smith, a single from Chase Guerrattaz to score Robb, a fielder choice from Shumate to score Montes, and a single from Moore that scored Evan Hoover, capping off a 7 run inning for the Cougars giving them a 10-1 lead going after the second. A home run from Robb would give the Cougars an 11-1 lead in the third inning before a 2-rbi double from Callaway Smith would make it a 13-1 lead in the fourth. South Central would tack on two more runs in the fifth inning before Guerrattaz would pitch a scoreless bottom half of the fifth giving the Cougars the 15-1 win. South Central improves to 1-0 on the season. They will have a week off before their next game when they take on Fairfield. CHBC falls to 0-1 on the year. They will be at home on Friday when they take on Newton.
