Vandalia’s Max Philpot Takes 1st Place at 113lbs at IHSA 1A Individual Wrestling State Finals

Vandalia wrestling sophomore Max Philpot beat Austin Hagevold of Marian Central Catholic by Decision (10-3) in the Championship match of the 113lb weight class to take First Place at the IHSA 1A Individual State Finals at the State Farm Center in Champaign this evening. Philpot is now a two-time state medalist as his 1st place finish this year joins his 2nd place finish in the 106lb weight class in the 2024 Individual State Finals. Philpot has now finished in the top 2 in the state in each of his first two years of high school wrestling. With his dominating run through the 2025 State Finals, Philpot remains undefeated on the season and now stands at 47-0.
