Five Vandalia wrestlers picked up Quarterfinal wins this evening to advance on to the Semifinal Round of the IHSA 1A Individual State Tournament at the State Farm Center in Champaign. Max Philpot at 113, Preston Waughtel at 120, Tyson Waughtel at 126, Dillon Hinton at 150 and Ross Miller at 175 all got Quarterfinals wins and will be off until Friday evening at 7:00pm when the 1A Semifinal Round will be held. Aiden Evans at 106 and Kaden Tidwell at 215 both suffered close Quarterfinal losses so they will go the Second Round of Wrestlebacks that will be held at 1:30pm on Friday. Earlier in the day, Cole Yarbrough at 138, Parker Ray at 157, Artan Mustafa at 165 and Dominic Swyers at 285 suffered Preliminary Round losses and will have to go through the First Round of Wrestlebacks that will be held at 11:00am on Friday morning.

Aiden Evans, 106lbs: Evans beat Coyt Rademaker of PORTA by Decision, 7-0, in the Preliminary Round and then lost to Lelan Nelson of Richmond Burton by Decision (3-0) in the Quarterfinals and will go to the Second Round of Wrestlebacks where he will face either Jaxsun Owens of Canton or Jason Piatak of Coal City.
Max Philpot, 113lbs: Philpot Beat Kainin Fillbright of PORTA by Fall in 1:12 in the Preliminary Round and then beat Brandon White of Dakota by Fall in 2:58 in the Quarterfinals and advances to the Semifinals where he will face Dylan Eimer of Stanford Olympia.
Preston Waughtel, 120lbs: P. Waughtel beat Jacob Hartesty of Canton by Tech Fall (17-2) in 2:14 in the Preliminary Round and then beat Augustus Swanson of Princeton by Tech Fall (18-1) in 2:26 in the Quarterfinals and advances to the Semifinals where he will face Adam Glauser of Richmond Burton.
Tyson Waughtel, 126lbs: T. Waughtel beat Nick Marchese of Woodstock Marian by Tech Fall (16-1) in 5:32 in the Preliminary Round and then beat Landen Lage of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley by Tech Fall (17-0) in 2:49 in the Quarterfinals and advances to the Semifinals where he will face Dawson Hawthorne of Belleville Althoff.
Cole Yarbrough, 138lbs: Lost to Andrew Alvarado of Woodstock Marian by Major Decision (14-6) in the Preliminary Round and will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks to face Nicario Bella of Chicago (Perspectives/Leadership).
Dillon Hinton, 150lbs: Hinton beat Jose Lopez of Amboy by Tech Fall (18-1) in 5:16 in the Preliminary Round and then beat Holden Brazelton of Tolono Unity by Decision (5-4) in the Quarterfinals and advances to the Semifinals where he will face Vance Williams of Woodstock Marian.
Parker Ray, 157lbs: Lost to Briar Ivey of Newman Central Catholic by Fall in 2:54 in the Preliminary Round and will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks to face Tony Jones-Blakely of Chicago Hope.

Kaden Tidwell, 215lbs: Tidwell beat Dominic Alaimo of Reed Custer by Decision (6-4) in the Preliminary Round and then lost to Jeremiah Luke of Lena Winslow by TieBreaker 1 (2-1) and will go to the Second Round of Wrestlebacks and will face either Brody O’Connor of Clifton or Dan French of Woodstock Marian.
Dominic Swyers, 285lbs: Lost to Chunk Dailey of Beardstown by Major Decision (15-5) in the Preliminary Round and will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks to face Cade Odell of Princeton.
