Eleven Vandalia wrestlers began action today on the first day of the IHSA 1A Individual Wrestling State Tournament at the State Farm Center in Champaign. Preliminary round action got underway today at noon today with seven Vandals making it through to the Quarterfinal round that will be held this evening at 6:00pm before action resumes Friday morning with the remaining four Vandals in action in the First Round Wrestlebacks.

Aiden Evans, 106lbs: Beat Coyt Rademaker of PORTA by Decision, 7-0, in the Preliminary Round and will face Lelan Nelson of Richmond Burton in the Quarterfinals.
Max Philpot, 113lbs: Beat Kainin Fillbright of PORTA by Fall in 1:12 in the Preliminary Round and will face Brandon White of Dakota in the Quarterfinals.
Preston Waughtel, 120lbs: Beat Jacob Hartesty of Canton by Tech Fall (17-2) in 2:14 in the Preliminary Round and will face Augustus Swanson of Princeton in the Quarterfinals.
Tyson Waughtel, 126lbs: Beat Nick Marchese of Woodstock Marian by Tech Fall (16-1) in 5:32 in the Preliminary Round and will face Landen Lage of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in the Quarterfinals.
Cole Yarbrough, 138lbs: Lost to Andrew Alvarado of Woodstock Marian by Major Decision (14-6) in the Preliminary Round and will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks to face Nicario Bella of Chicago (Perspectives/Leadership).
Dillon Hinton, 150lbs: Beat Jose Lopez of Amboy by Tech Fall (18-1) in 5:16 in the Preliminary Round and will face Holden Brazelton of Tolono Unity in the Quarterfinals.
Parker Ray, 157lbs: Lost to Briar Ivey of Newman Central Catholic by Fall in 2:54 in the Preliminary Round and will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks to face Tony Jones-Blakely of Chicago Hope.
Artan Mustafa, 165lbs: Lost to Bowden Delaney of Tremont by Fall in 0:36 in the Preliminary Round and will now go to the First Round of Wrestlebacks to face Nick Grant of Seneca.
Ross Miller, 175lbs: Beat Gavin Bafia of Dwight by Tech Fall (15-0) in 5:18 in the Preliminary Round and will now face Duke Mays of Johnsburg in the Quarterfinals.
Kaden Tidwell, 215lbs: Beat Dominic Alaimo of Reed Custer by Decision (6-4) in the Preliminary Round and will face Jeremiah Luke of Lena Winslow in the Quarterfinals.
