Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball will play for a Regional Championship for the second year in a row after beating Mt. Olive 59 to 26 on Monday night in the semifinals of the South Central 1A Regional. The Bombers had a bit of turnover trouble early and Mt. Olive was able to get out to a 6-2 lead, but BSE went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 9-6. A 5-2 run by the Wildcats to end the quarter had the game tied up at 11-11 at the end of the quarter. BSE would go on a big run to start the second quarter as Danika Ramsey and Dayana Haslett teamed up to hit five three-pointers and Madi Miller scored six points as the Bombers pulled away to a 36-16 halftime lead. The Bombers would continue to roll in the third quarter with a 15-9 run led by five points from Addie Sasse and four from Presley Williams as their lead grew to 51-25 at the end of the third quarter. A pair of threes to open the fourth quarter by Audria Logue and Jaydin Huddlestun put BSE up 57-26 and triggered the running clock and the Bombers closed out the big 59-26 win. BSE moves to 25-6 on the season and will meet a familiar opponent in Thursday’s Regional Championship at 6:00pm. They will get Father McGivney who beat North Clay 44-18 to get to the title game.
