The Vandalia Vandals got themselves down as much as 24 on Saturday and could not mount a comeback falling to the Carterville Lions 68-58. The Lions got out ahead early taking a 18-11 lead after one quarter of play, and would extend that lead to 41-18 at halftime after a 23-9 second quarter run. Carterville would once again outscore the Vandals 16-13 in the third quarter, to take a 57-33 lead into the fourth. The Vandals would attempt to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter going on a 25-11 run, but it was too little too late as the Vandals would fall to Carterville 68-58. The loss drops the Vandals to 12-17 on the season. The Vandals will have their final regular season home game on Tuesday when they host Hillsboro.
