Lady Vandals Season Ends with Regional Loss at Wesclin


The Vandalia girls basketball season came to a close on Saturday night as the Lady Vandals fell at Wesclin 49 to 31 in the Quarterfinals of the Greenville 2A Regional. Vandalia got off to a bit of a slow start, scoring just four points in the first quarter to trail 11-4 at the start of the second quarter. The Lady Vandals would be right with the Warriors in the second as each team put 11 points in the board in the period as Vandalia continued to trail by seven, 22-15, at halftime. A 15-7 run in the third quarter by Wesclin allowed them to open their lead up to 15 points over Vandalia who trailed 37-22 at the end of the third. The Lady Vandals would not get any closer to the Warriors as they were outscored 12-9 in the fourth as they suffered the 49-31 loss. With the loss, Vandalia ends their season at 16-14, achieving just their second season in the last 9 years with a winning record and it was also their second best win total in that same 9 year time period.
