First Quarter Run Leads BSE to Win Over Altamont in NTC Action

Brownstown-St. Elmo used a 26-0 first quarter run to grab a quick early lead and Altamont hung with BSE the remaining three quarters but could not overcome their early deficit as the Bombers beat the Lady Indians 51 to 20 on Thursday night in National Trail Conference action. Dayana Haslett dropped 16 points in the first quarter along with seven from Presley Williams as BSE pitched a shutout and took a 26-0 lead to end the first. Altamont would hit a quick turnaround coming out of the quarter break and a pair of three pointers from Libby Reardon and Kylie Osteen would fuel a Lady Indian run. Haslett would drop another nine points for BSE in the second though as the Bombers would just outscore Altamont 10-9 and hold the lead, 36-9, at halftime. The two teams would play even in the third quarter as BSE was held to eight points on two field goals and four free throws while Altamont hit for three field goals and two free throws for eight points as well, but the Lady Indians continued to trail, 44-17, at the end of the quarter. A 5-2 run to open the fourth quarter by BSE pushed their lead to 49-19 and triggered the running clock rule around the halfway point of the quarter as the Bombers finished out the 51-20 win over Altamont. BSE improves to 18-2 on the season having won 14 straight games now and they move to 4-0 in the NTC. Altamont is now 8-11 having lost three in a row as they fall to 1-2 on the season. Altamont will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Tuscola at 1:00pm at Macon Meridian Middle School as part of the NTC-CIC Shootout.
