Our Pro Wire Athlete of the Week for January 11 is Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball sophomore Dayana Haslett and Vandalia High School junior bowler Macy Jones.
On Thursday night, BSE’s Haslett got a steal and took it in for the layup with 4:32 remaining in the third quarter of the Bombers win over Mt. Olive to reach 1,000 career points, playing in just her 53rd high school basketball game. Haslett is averaging 18.9 points a game for her career now and is at 21.8 points a game for the season as she stands at 1,004 career points with at least 12 games remaining in this season for BSE.
Vandalia’s Macy Jones has been named a member of the Junior Team USA Bowling Squad following the 2025 Team USA Trials that were held this week in Reno, Nevada where 281 athletes competed for spots on Team USA. Competitors bowled 30 games over 5 days across 5 patterns vying for a spot on the Adult Team USA and Junior Team USA. Macy finished the week with a total pinfall of 6,143 and an average score of 205 that was strong enough to earn her a spot on the Junior Team USA Squad.
