South Central's Strong Second Half Leads to Win over Sandoval


The South Central Cougars get their 2025 portion of their schedule off on the right note getting a 63-50 win over the Sandoval Blackhawks. The Cougars got off to a slow start offensively, getting outscored 12-8 in the first quarter. South Central would narrowly be outscored 20-18 in the second quarter, as the Blackhawks would take a 32-26 lead into halftime. The second half would be all South Central, as the Cougars outscored Sandoval 28-19, highlighted by 9 points from Westin Neilson and 6 points from Jalen Smith, to take a 54-45 lead into the fourth quarter. South Central would have a strong defensive fourth quarter, outscoring Sandoval 9-5 to come away with the 63-50 win. With the win, South Central improves to 10-4 on the season. The Cougars would be back home on Tuesday when they host Christ Our Rock Lutheran.
