Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball has moved up two spots in this week’s Associated Press Class 1A Girls Basketball Pool that was released on Wednesday afternoon. The 11-2 Lady Bombers are up to #5 in this week’s poll and are in a tie with Orangeville who is 11-1 on the season. Orangeville moved up from the #9 spot a week ago while BSE moved up from the #7 spot last week. In the last week, the Lady Bombers got a 22-point win, 68-46 over Windsor/Stew-Stras and a 32-point, 54-22 win over Casey-Westfield. BSE has now got eight of their 11 wins by margins of 20 points or more.
Joining BSE in the pool again this week is fellow National Trail Conference team St. Anthony who moved up from #2 last week to the #1 spot this week. The Lady Bulldogs are 10-1 on the season having suffered their only loss to Class 2A Mt. Carmel and also escaped a close battle with Altamont by eight points just last week. BSE and St. Anthony could possibly match up for the first time this season in just over a month at the National Trail Conference Tournament as their regular season NTC game is not schedule until February 6.
