BSE Wins Home Opener Over Cumberland

Brownstown-St. Elmo kicked off their 2024-2025 season with a 59-29 win over Cumberland in their home opener on Monday night. The Lady Bombers played strong defense in the first quarter, not letting the Lady Pirates get any solid looks at the basket, only giving up two points on a pair of free throws and using seven points from Presley Williams and four points from Danika Ramsey to run out to a 16-2 lead. BSE would just outscore Cumberland 13-11 in the second quarter as Dayana Haslett put up six points and Madi Miller tallied five points in the quarter and the Bombers still held a 29-13 lead at halftime. Haslett dropped another nine points in the third quarter and Addie Sasse added five points as an 18-10 third quarter run pushed the Bombers lead out to 47-23 heading into the fourth quarter. A 12-6 fourth quarter advantage closed out the win for BSE as they start their season off at 1-0. BSE would see double digit scoring from three players in the game as Haslett would finish with 23 points and both Williams and Miller finished with 10 points apiece. The Lady Bombers will go on the road for the first time on Thursday as they head to Litchfield. After that, they will begin play in the Pana Tournament where they will play one game on Friday evening and two games on Saturday afternoon.
