Vandalia Wrestlers Compete in Litchfield Preseason Tournament


Several members of the Vandalia High School wrestling team competed in the Litchfield Preseason Tournament on Saturday with a handful turning in top 3 finishes.

On the boys side, Tyson Waughtel took first place in the 126-136lb division with a tech fall win, a win by Major Decision and a win by fall to go 3-0 in his three rounds. In the 140-145 division, Deon Moore grabbed two wins by decision and a win by fall to go 3-0 for first place. In the 142-150 division, Zayne Zinkgraf got two wins by fall and another by decision as he went 3-0 to grab first place. In the 164-174 division, Noah Langston lost his first round by fall but rebounded to win by fall in the final two rounds as he took second place. In the 189-198 division, Owen Martin went 1-2 on the day as he would finish in third place while in the 179-196 division, Gabe Torres had a tough day going 0-2 as he finished in third place and in the 138-141 division, Natthew McDowell was 0-3 on the day for fourth place.

On the girls side of the tournament, in the 147-158lb division, Brynn Swyers got two wins by Fall as she would take first place on the day and in the 112-116lb division, Sara Braswell was 0-2 for the day to finish in third place.
